Making Your Appeal What you need to do next What can be more devastating to a parent than having your child "rejected?" Whether it was an automatic choice or whether you thought long and hard about it - this is the school that you believe is right for your son or daughter. Now you're told there is no place for your child. Going through the appeal system is traumatic for many parents. The reason is that this is about your son or daughter. People who are normally confident in their business life are suddenly very emotional. It's not surprising. Your child is special to you and They said "no." So, right now you're feeling hurt, frustrated, angry, stressed, confused. You feel that it just isn't fair! Well, you're not alone! You have the right to appeal for each school you have been refused. The appeal system may seem overwhelming. After all it is a legal process. That in itself puts many people off appealing. However, armed with knowledge and support, our service can coach you to present your appeal confidently. The first thing you need to do is lodge your appeal. This means writing to the admission authority for the school and saying that you would like to appeal. You should be given at least 10 school days after receiving the refusal letter in which to lodge your appeal. This is to give you time to consider carefully your reasons for appealing and putting them into your letter. However, don't worry if this deadline for appealling has passed! This is purely and administrative date. Legally you can appeal at any time after being refused ( right up to the end of the school year that you are applying for entry into).
